About
"There are so many sounds I still want to make, so many things I haven't yet done."
-B.B King
Julia is a freelance musician from Phoenix Arizona and started her new music chapter in Nashville Tennessee.
Julia’s musical direction started with a classical background under the direction of Carter Pendell. She then shifted her focus towards old time fiddling where she studied under Dr Peter Rolland and Jazz Improvisation with Mike Cirillo. Julia graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Interdisciplinary Music Studies in the summer or 2022. When she’s not fiddling you can find her on mandolin, guitar, banjo, singing, or songwriting!
During the 2013-2014 season she became the orchestral concertmaster for the Metropolitan Youth Symphony (MYS) and earned the Director's Award for fiddling in the MYS fiddle program. In May of 2019, she had the opportunity to perform with the Allman Betts Band at the Chandler Center for the Arts venue during their ‘Down to the River Tour’. From 2019-2020 Julia was a member of the Mountain View Fiddlers located in Phoenix Arizona. While in Arizona Julia was also a member of RequiemHeist, a local indie-folk band and was part of their first EP released in 2022.
In addition to performing Julia also believes in helping local young musicians develop their passion for music. In Arizona she started an elementary strings program at Scottsdale Christian Academy and taught at Mcdowell Mountain Lessons in Scottsdale. Most recently she taught private instruction at Bach to Rock in Tennessee.
Julia’s current music projects include releasing music and touring with various artists. She was part of the ‘Make it Country Tour’ in Hawaii with Hawaiian country artist Waylon Nihipali during the summer of 2023. During the fall of 23 she opened for Richy Mitch and The Coal Miner’s along side Evan Honer. She can also be found supporting fellow artists such as Zandi Holup, Brendan Walters and The Voice's Madison Hughes. When Julia isn’t on the road or in the studio you can find her playing fiddle with Josh Hughett at local Nashville bars such as The Valentine and Cerveza Jacks.
Julia is currently releasing her own music. Her first release with Evan Honer was a cover of Tyler Childers ‘Jersey Giant’ which catapulted her streaming platforms and motivated her to release her own music. You can find her debut single ‘If He Wanted To’ alongside ‘Hey Arizona’ and duet with Evan Honer ‘Someone You Don’t Know’ on all streaming platforms. Julia looks forward to touring with Evan Honer in the fall of 2024 and releasing more original music.
